Ridgewood Preserve (Falmouth Corners)

Trail Distance and Description: 1.8 mile trail network; trails are often rooty and rocky and contain stepping stones over streams and wet areas. There is a set of stairs with a railing at the preserve entrance

Dogs: Allowed off leash under voice control. Must be on leash within 300 feet of the trailhead.

Property Uses: Hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and nature study are all allowed. Motorized vehicles are prohibited. The area is not wheelchair accessible.

Additional Directions: From I-95 take exit 53 and turn left onto Gray Rd (Rte 100/26). Turn right at the first traffic light onto Leighton Rd. Continue one-half mile and turn right onto Falmouth Rd. In two miles turn left to stay on Falmouth Rd. Continue one-half mile and turn left onto Ridgewood Rd. Continue on Ridgewood Rd for four-tenths of a mile and turn left onto Applewood Lane. Trailhead parking is in the first parking lot on the right.

Habitat: A secondary growth forest of pine, hemlock and maple shields a thick understory of smaller maple, elm and ferns. The wetlands, small brooks and ravines are home to associated plants and small animals. There are a number of vernal pools in this area so please be aware of the breeding activity during early spring season.
