Join Maine Master Naturalists Anne Payson and Susan Gilpin for a nature journaling walk and workshop at the FLT office. Learn tips and tricks for recording what you see out in nature and practice it in your own journal. All materials will be provided. Guided Walk with Minquansis Sapiel @ Tidewater Farm
Join Passamaquoddy cultural educator and author Minquansis Sapiel for a guided walk at Tidewater Farm (200 Presumpscot Point Road, Falmouth) on Monday, December 15th at 2pm. Minquansis will discuss the importance of various waterways, including the Presumpscot River, to Wabanaki people. It will likely be chilly for this event, especially since we'll be near the water. Minquansis Sapiel is a published author, storyteller, speaker, and cultural guide from Sipayik, one of the two Passamaquoddy communities in Maine. A member of the Wabanaki Confederacy, she leads guided tours in different parts of the state, offering deep insight into Wabanaki history, land, and culture. Her children’s book Little People of the Dawn introduces younger generations to Wabanaki stories, and she has a new book about maple trees coming out soon.

Fall Bird Walk with BRI
We are excited to partner with the Portland-based Biodiversity Research Institute on a fall bird walk at River Point Conservation Area! Join us on Tuesday, October 21st at 7:30am. Parking is available in the Hannaford parking lot at 63 Gray Road, Falmouth. We'll meet near the bridge over the railroad tracks by the big flagpole. The rain date for this event is Friday, October 24th.
This is a great time of year to go birding as many birds are migrating south towards warmer climates. A BRI staff member will explain the migratory bird research they do at River Point and walk participants through the bird banding and tracking process.

October Volunteer Work Day @ River’s Edge Preserve
Join FLT for a fun volunteer work day at FLT’s new River’s Edge Preserve! Tasks will include re-digging the stone dust trail to attempt to install a less steep path; cutting back the invasive bittersweet vine; and planting native seeds. Please plan to wear sturdy shoes and bring layers, water, and snacks as needed. All tools will be provided.
There are two designated parking spots at the end of Eagle's Lane in Falmouth, in addition to street parking. Please avoid blocking the emergency vehicle turn-around and residential driveways.

Trail Fest @ Wander at Longwoods Preserve
FLT is excited to partner with Chebeague & Cumberland Land Trust on a new event this fall: Trail Fest! Join us on Sunday, September 28th from 3-7pm at Wander at LongWoods in Cumberland for an afternoon of delicious food (pizza, salad, dessert), live music, lawn games, kids' activities, and more. This collaborative event will be a fun way to celebrate and support Falmouth and Cumberland trails.
Adult tickets are $50 each, kid's tickets (ages 5 and up) are $5 each, and kids under 5 can attend for free. Support the trails even more by joining the Host Committee! This $300 option includes four tickets and an invitation to a pre-event celebration at Wander. We don't want price to be a barrier to attendance, so please email us at info@falmouthlandtrust.org to request a reduced price community ticket.

Maine Outdoor Film Festival @ Tidewater Farm
POSTPONED TO SUNDAY, SEPT 7TH!!
FLT, Chebeague & Cumberland Land Trust, and the Falmouth Cumberland Community Chamber of Commerce are excited to bring The Maine Outdoor Film Festival back to Tidewater Farm for a third year! The film program features various outdoor and conservation-themed films and lasts about 2 hours, including a 10-minute intermission. More information about each film can be found here.
Bring your own chair or picnic blanket, and come enjoy some films under the stars! We’ll have popcorn and soft drinks available. A suggested donation of $10-$15 directly supports FLT and CCLT programming and stewardship efforts.

Join FLT and the Appalachian Mountain Club, Maine Chapter for a guided hike at Blackstrap Hill Preserve! The group will hike a ~4 mile loop that includes the Blackstrap summit. Along the way we’ll learn about the history of the property, some of the flora and fauna, and ongoing trail improvement efforts. Mushroom ID Walk with North Spore
FLT is excited to partner with North Spore, a Portland-based mushroom production company, on a guided mushroom ID walk at Underwood Springs Forest. Participants will walk the trails and learn how to identify some common mushroom species. We recommend that participants wear boots and long pants and consider bringing a basket, knife, and magnifying glass.
Parking is available in the first Friends School parking lot on the right when you enter (11 US-1, Cumberland Foreside).

POSTPONED to Sunday, June 8th! Join FLT on National Trails Day for a guided hike at Blackstrap Hill Preserve! We’ll celebrate reaching the halfway mark in the Trail Legacy Campaign (which aims to raise $250,000 for trail improvements) before embarking on a hike through the Preserve. Attendees can expect a 1.5 mile hike on the Preserve’s white trail and will have the chance to explore recent upgrades and learn about upcoming trail resilience projects aimed at protecting and enhancing this beloved trail system. The rain date for this event is Sunday, June 8th at 9am.
