A Peace of Forest Film Screening @ USM's Hannaford Hall
FLT is proud to partner with six other Portland-area land trusts and trail organizations to host a screening of the Maine-made wildlife documentary A Peace of Forest at USM’s Hannaford Hall. Doors will open at 6:30pm, and the film will begin at 7pm. A Q+A with the filmmakers will be held from 8:30-9pm.
Adult tickets are $15, and kids’ tickets are $5. There are also a number of free community tickets available.
Other cohosts include: Portland Trails, Presumpscot Regional Land Trust, Chebeague Cumberland Land Trust, Freeport Conservation Trust, Cape Elizabeth Land Trust, and the Maine Land Trust Network.

Guided Walks with Falmouth Open Studio Tour
FLT is teaming up with the Falmouth Open Studio Tour to lead guided walks and showcase artwork by local artists and students! Reproductions of pieces done by local artists are currently on display on the orange trail at Falmouth Nature Preserve. Stop by and see why the Falmouth woods and trails offer inspiration to these artists!
FLT will also be leading guided walks as part of the Falmouth Open Studio Tour on Saturday, November 16th. We'll walk the trails at Underwood Springs Forest and highlight the plein air artwork completed on the trails by Friends School students during art classes with local artist, Deena Ball. Walks will be offered at 11:45 am and 2:45 pm.

Sustainable Trail Building Training - Day 1
The trails in Falmouth depend on our wonderful volunteers. To grow our capacity, FLT is hosting a two-day skills clinic with Erin Amadon from Town 4 Trails for those interested in helping us design and maintain climate resilient trails. Participants are highly encouraged to attend both sessions. Click the button below to register.
Day 1: Saturday, November 16th from 8:30am - 3:00pm
The day will start at the FLT office at 74 Lunt Rd, Falmouth. The morning will be inside, and the afternoon will be out in the field at North Falmouth Community Forest.
Day 2: Saturday, December 7th from 8:30am - 3:00pm
The second day will be spent in the field working on a group-identified trail project, likely at North Falmouth Community Forest. Weather limitations notwithstanding, of course!
Participants who complete both full days will receive a FLT T-shirt!
What to Bring: We suggest close-toed water-resistant footwear, thick gloves, two water bottles, lunch, a blaze orange vest or hat, and layers for outdoor weather.
Terrain and Site Challenges: Please expect roots, some steep slopes, muddy sections, loose stones, and some overgrown areas.

Wilderness First Aid Class with Wild Maine Med
FLT is excited to partner with Wild Maine Med and the Friends School of Portland on a two-day wilderness first aid class! Wilderness First Aid courses are two-day (16hr) courses that provide specialized training in medical emergencies that may occur while adventuring outside. From trauma-related injuries to medical issues, participants engage in hands-on scenarios to gain the knowledge and skills to assess, stabilize, and treat injuries or illnesses until further help can arrive. Unlike traditional lecture-based first aid courses, this course is based around hands-on practice, enabling participants to gain the understanding necessary to accurately assess emergency situations and build the skills needed to respond effectively.
Dates: November 2nd and 3rd (8 hours each day)
Location: Friends School of Portland (11 US-1, Cumberland Foreside)
Cost: $235 for SOLO Wilderness First Aid Certification (additional $45 for optional CPR certification)
Ages: 14 and up

October Mushroom ID Walk with North Spore
FLT is excited to partner with North Spore, a Portland-based mushroom production company, on a guided mushroom ID walk at Town Forest. Participants will walk the trails and learn how to identify some common mushroom species. We recommend that participants wear boots and long pants and consider bringing a basket, knife, and magnifying glass. Parking for this walk is available along the road at 155 Winn Road, Falmouth and at Winfield Children’s House at 161 Field Road, Falmouth.

Guided Hike/Bike with FLT and PRLT
FLT is teaming up with the Presumpscot Regional Land Trust (PRLT) for a guided hike through PRLT’s Lowell Preserve and onto the connecting Cross Falmouth Trail! GPNEMBA will also lead a guided mountain bike ride as well.
We'll meet at PRLT’s Lowell Preserve in Windham at 9am to kick off the event. Choose between a guided hike and a guided mountain bike ride for your morning adventure. The hiking group will go all the way to the parking lot of Hadlock Community Forest for a 7 mile adventure. A shuttle will then take hikers back to the start so everyone can do a fun point-to-point hike. GPNEMBA will lead a medium-paced no-drop 7-8 mile ride, as well as a faster-paced (but no-drop) ride of 12-14 miles out to Hadlock Community Forest and back.
Funds from this event will support FLT and PRLT’s stewardship efforts. We hope you'll join us and support these great trails!

Forest Bathing with Gently Flourish @ Morrill-Stillings Bird Sanctuary
Immerse yourself in nature through Forest Bathing, a growing global wellness movement that encourages you to enjoy nature at a slower pace and alleviate the stressors of everyday life. Forest Bathing walks are slow-paced and generally cover less than a mile of trail. During this time, your guide Kelsey, in partnership with the forest, will offer an evolving series of invitations crafted to help participants slow down, open their senses, and connect to nature. Kelsey is a nature-based artist and certified Forest Therapy Guide who offers meaningful workshops in nature through her business, Gently Flourish.
Attendees should bring a water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and insect repellent. Lightweight, portable stools will be provided. Walks will continue in drizzling rain, as this can enhance our sensory experience. Parking for Morrill-Stillings Bird Sanctuary is available in a small grassy lot at 18 Babbidge Road in Falmouth.

Maine Outdoor Film Festival @ Tidewater Farm
FLT and the Falmouth Cumberland Community Chamber of Commerce are excited to bring The Maine Outdoor Film Festival back to Tidewater Farm for a second year! The film program features various outdoor and conservation-themed films and lasts about 2 hours, including a 10-minute intermission. Bring your own chair or picnic blanket, and come enjoy some films under the stars!

Our loop will be about 1/2 mile or so with the option to add on to make it longer. Plan to bring water, bug repellent, and snacks as needed.
Please note that there will be a local photographer present to take photos for the land trust to use in outreach materials. he will ask folks to fill out photo release forms. It is not at all mandatory to complete these forms or be in any photos!
