Property Uses: Hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and nature study are all permitted. Motorized vehicles are prohibited.
Additional Directions: From I-95 N take exit 52 for the Falmouth spur. Continue 4 miles and take the US-1 S/I-295 S exit towards Falmouth. Continue on US-1 S for about one-half mile and turn right onto Depot Road. Continue for less than one-half mile and turn left onto Farm Gate Road. Take the first right onto Presumpscot Point Road and continue to the preserve entrance at the end of the road.
From bus stop #900: Continue on Clearwater Drive and turn right onto Farm Gate Road. Continue for less than one-half mile and turn left onto Presumpscot Point Road. The preserve entrance is at the end of the road.
Property Description: Tidewater Farm is located between Lunt Road and Clearwater Drive with extensive shoreline along the Presumpscot Estuary and Scittery Gusset Creek. Trails have been developed on the property, including a trail that allows for carry-in canoe or kayak launching.
History: This historic saltwater farm property was acquired by a developer in 2005 and the open space portion set aside as part of the development plan.
Habitat: Most of the property remains in open fields, some of which are under cultivation by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. The extensive estuary wetlands are the property's most distinguishing feature.
Trail Distance and Description: 2 mile trail system; mowed grassy trails wind through fields and near the water, while other narrow trails provide access to adjacent neighborhoods
