THANK YOU. TOgether We saveD Underwood springs forest!

Underwood Springs Forest is one of the last remaining forested properties east of the rapidly growing Route One corridor in Falmouth that is still available for conservation. This beautiful parcel of land contains mature stands of trees, a magical fern understory, wetlands, diverse habitats, and several underground springs that feed cold waters into Norton Brook, a tributary of Mill Creek that flows into Casco Bay. This unusual parcel is ecologically rich with many types of wildlife and unique vegetation that is worthy of protection for future generations to enjoy. Please click here to watch an aerial video of the property.

Underwood Springs Forest contains approximately 2,000 feet of stream corridor on Norton Brook. Norton Brook, along with Cheney Creek and Mill Creek, are important fragile waterways that contribute to the health of Casco Bay and the uniqueness of our community. They contain critical habitat for coastal species including brook trout, clams, and water birds. The acquisition and permanent protection of Underwood Springs Forest is an important step in an effort to conserve and protect the integrity of these remaining special places for the future of our community.
