ERIC HOPKINS RAFFLE TO BENEFIT THE UNDERWOOD SPRINGS FOREST ACQUISITION
As the Falmouth Land Trust (FLT) seeks to conclude its fundraising for the acquisition of the Underwood Springs Forest, we are honored to share a special opportunity to win a work of art by Maine artist Eric Hopkins. Eric Hopkins provided Spencer Mountain with Clouds to FLT to help us succeed in the final stages of the purchase of Underwood Springs Forest.
Many artists draw inspiration from the landscape and abundant natural beauty of Maine. Eric chose to donate a painting to FLT because he cares about southern Maine, and feels that open space is important. Moreover, Eric has captured a sense that we can do this, if we work together in his interviews. This has been the mantra of FLT’s campaign to protect Underwood Springs Forest. The final fundraising raffle for Eric Hopkin’s Spencer Mountain with Clouds is an appropriate and celebratory crescendo to our nine months of fundraising during a difficult year. We are deeply thankful for Eric’s partnership in conserving land in Maine and his generosity.
The piece that has been donated is entitled, Spencer Mountain with Clouds. This piece is in a style that is characteristic of many of Hopkins’ paintings. This painting depicts a natural landscape that includes water, land and sky in a representation designed to promote reverence for earth.
Leading up to the raffle, FLT will exhibit the painting at Elizabeth Moss Gallery in Falmouth.
Spencer Mountain with Clouds measures approximately 2.5 feet by 3.5 feet framed. The original Eric Hopkins artwork is valued at $6,800 and with framing the value exceeds $7,000. The artist will be compensated for 50% of the arts value. All remaining proceeds are a donation to FLT.
